Rental Procedure

A simple Step by Step procedure for getting a KAMAP apartment
KAMAP manages many different types of apartments in Isla Vista. The first thing you want to do is decide upon the correct type of unit as determined by number of residents in your group, location in Isla Vista, and price range.

A few questions to consider:
  1. Are you interested in a 1BDR, 2BDR or 3BDR apartment? The 1BDR units are available for up to 2 tenants. 2BDR units are for up to 4 tenants and 3BDR units are for up to 6 tenants. Have a general idea about the size of your party when deciding upon a unit.
  2. Where do you want to live in Isla Vista? KAMAP offers units at various locations. Check out the I.V. map section to determine a unit location.
  3. What is your price range? Consult the Price List for the unit that is right for you. Price List for the 2010-11 school year is now available.
Once you have a general idea of your group size, your location needs and your price range you will want to take a look at the inside of the units. Check out the pictures posted on this website to see some of our interior designs and floor plans. It's a good idea to be aware of few different units in case your first choice has already been taken.
The KAMAP management staff can help you if you are unfamiliar with the process of selecting a unit.

After establishing a general idea of your needs you will want to fill out the Application form available online or come into the KAMAP office and fill one out. You will be unable to secure a unit without a completed application. The application form is a simple procedure that takes just a few minutes to complete.

KAMAP also requires a co-signer to fill out an application before the signing of the lease. The co-signer application is typically filled out by a parent or guardian to ensure reliable payment responsibilities. This application can be faxed to the KAMAP office (fax is on 24 hours a day) if the co-signer does not live locally. The co-signer can download the application on this website.

There is no cost to fill out an application form so you really have nothing to loose by applying at KAMAP.

Applications can be dropped off or mailed to the KAMAP office at any time.

Once you and your co-signer have completely filled out the KAMAP application form you will be cleared to sign a lease with KAMAP.

How to sign a lease.

When signing a lease with KAMAP the prospective residents at the apartment need to present. Find a time when everyone can get together as a group because it will take about 40 minutes, so prepare your day accordingly.

Once your party has signed a lease with a security deposit included (equal to one months rent) the apartment will be yours!
